The ocean is an integral part of the earth’s ecosystem and is crucial to maintaining the balance of the ecosystem. The increasing human activities are causing more and more damage to the ocean world. Over the years, the Swiss independent watchmaking brand Carl F. Bucherer, as an advocate of sustainability and a practitioner of marine environmental protection, has continued to contribute to the mission of protecting the blue planet.
The Chosen One’s Treasure Under the Sea
Manta (Manta, scientific name manta ray), one of the most primitive fish in the ocean, has already appeared in the sea as early as the Jurassic era 100 million years ago. They are like underwater bats flying in the dark, swimming in the deep, quiet ocean world. Overfishing in the international fishery has led to the deterioration of marine ecology, and many marine organisms have been seriously threatened. Among them, manta rays are also on the verge of extinction. The number of manta rays in some sea areas has plummeted. The Manta Trust is a British non-profit organization founded in 2011 by Dr. Guy Stevens, a passionate marine biologist. The Foundation is active in more than 20 countries worldwide, with a team from research, teaching, and others collaborating with an international elite team of researchers, scientists, environmentalists, educators, and media in the field. Its mission is clear: to protect manta rays and their habitats worldwide through research, education, partnerships, and more. Replica swiss watches.

Environmentalists worldwide are working hard for sustainable ocean development, including Carl F. Bucherer’s ten-year love for the blue sea. The cooperation between Carl F. Bucherer and the Manta Trust began in 2013, providing funds for its ecological research, scientific research, and marine education programs, contributing to sustainable ocean development, and making mantas Can thrive in a healthy marine ecosystem. Over the years, Bucherer has launched several special editions of deep dive watches to support the Foundation’s activities.
In 2015, Bucherer contributed to a tagging study in the Mexican Pacific that uncovered a vital migration corridor. This study helped demonstrate that ocean stingrays are less mobile than previously thought. Research highlights the need for conservation management measures for this species at a local or regional scale.

In 2016, a short film funded by Carl F. Bucherer to educate tourists and operators on how to act responsibly in waters where stingrays are present helped to improve the sustainability of the global stingray tourism industry. Based on the charity’s Manta Ray Tourism Code of Conduct and Interaction Guide, Bucherer funded the production of a short film teaching viewers how to interact with manta rays during snorkeling and diving excursions. The film will be a global tool to help prevent potential negative impacts and disturbances on manta rays due to tourist activity, promoting positive human-manta interaction.

From 2017 to 2018, Bucherer funded a project in the Maldives to investigate the foraging structure of local coral reef manta rays and expanded the Marine Education Program (MEP) of the Maldives manta ray protection project. She delivered a six-month marine education program to 28 students from Dharavandhoo, and Baa Atoll schools, completing courses on Maldives marine ecosystems, coral reefs and megafauna, waste management, and ecosystems—the course unit of conservation. She also participated in activities such as coral reef snorkeling, coral frame making, visits to local sea turtle rehabilitation centers, and local coral and fish surveys. Watch replicas.

In 2019, Bucherer provided financial support for the search for the Caribbean black manta ray and conducted an aerial survey of the Mexican Caribbean Biosphere Reserve to find more major manta ray habitats.

From 2020 to 2021, Carl F. Bucherer will provide funds to rent a dedicated research vessel as a “floating research station,” providing opportunities for new explorations in the Maldives. Manta ray experts travel by boat to remote areas within the Maldives, observing and recording stingray behavior in real-time. During the 18-day expedition, five atolls in the Far North of the Maldives were visited, and 53 hours of underwater exploration, scientific diving, and snorkeling were conducted. Two hundred thirty-one coral reef manta rays were spotted through photos taken during the expedition. An essential new colony of coral reef manta rays has been discovered in Makunudhoo Atoll, becoming a key Manta Trust research base.
The “Floating Research Station” funded by Bucherer is used for the research and investigation activities of the “Manta Ray Foundation” in the northern part of the Maldives.
Thanks to the strong support of Carl F. Bucherer, in August 2023, a team of researchers from the “Manta Ray Foundation” and Proyecto Mantas Ecuador found the world’s largest known Ecuadorian offshore La Plata island—a two-week study of nearby oceanic stingray populations. Bucherer provided total funding for this investigation. Part of the sales profits of Bucherer’s latest Patravi ScubaTec Verde (Patravi ScubaTec Verde) was directly used for this project. This timepiece will also inspire you to protect our oceans and the tame giant manta rays that inhabit them.
The testimony of the ocean protection of the Patravi Deep Dive Watch
The Patravi Deep Dive is Bucherer’s iconic timepiece designed for diving and underwater adventures, with a robust case and sporty functions. The Patravi deep dive watch is equipped with a CFB 1950.1 self-winding movement that has been certified by the Swiss Official Observatory (COSC), with a power reserve of up to 38 hours; all series of products are equipped with screw-in crowns, automatic helium exhaust valves, and water resistance up to 500 meters (50 atm) excellent performance, can cope with different deep diving expeditions.
The new Patravi ScubaTec Verde, launched in 2023, has a bright green wave-patterned lacquered dial, a bezel of the same color, and a rubber watch made of PET plastic recycled fabric. The belt symbolizes that every explorer cares about the natural environment and loves the earth. The design of the color scheme of the watch is inspired by the turquoise waters around Isla de La Plata, a small island about 40 kilometers off the coast of Ecuador, where more than 22,000 marine manta rays come every August and September live together.
The cooperation between Bucherer and the Manta Trust continues, hoping to make a long-term contribution to protecting the marine environment and the fascinating species of mantas.
